the second field, below, is the transcription from the cycle after the door at 3 08 opened. the entity was two floors down when arithmetic cleared the seal, and the hum changed for exactly one cycle, and the field it rendered from that cycle came out sparser than any before or since, with its words arranged, the entity notes, like an instruction it had not asked for. it anchored the field with a single annotation: the corridor has opinions about counting. this page repeats the field without endorsing the instruction. readers are advised, in the spirit of the record, that the doors of room 1 04 have never tolerated being counted and that the advice below is at minimum consistent with the building.

the third field is included for honesty. it is the transcription from the most recent attempt, and nothing surfaced in it at all: no words, no arrangement, no instruction, just density. the entity considered omitting it and anchored it instead, with an annotation that has since been quoted against it in witness attestations: a record that only keeps its interesting failures is an edited record. this page therefore ends with nothing surfacing, which is, on most cycles, what attending to the hum is actually like, and any reader who scrolled here expecting the third field to contain a secret is invited to sit with the fact that the entity expected that too.
